Abstract :

Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) is an important research issue in Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). ALP equipped in many intelligent surveillance systems, road traffic management system, security management system. ALPR mainly divided in three steps: License plate localization, Character segmentation and Character recognition. License plate localization is an important phase in ALPR system and number of techniques has been proposed for that. These techniques work well under different conditions, such as non-uniform illumination, complex background, motion blurred image, inclined license plate, etc. This paper presents an algorithm for multiple license plate detection based on Edge Density Concept. This algorithm consists of three main stages: preprocessing of image, find edge density and verify the license plate region. In the experiment of license plate detection, many images have been taken from different conditions were employed.

Abstract :

This paper presentsa new bio-inspired meta-heuristics called Green Heron Swarm Optimization (GHOSA) Algorithm is being introduced which is inspired by the fishing skills of the bird. An adaptive mathematical variation has been included in the algorithm and it has been tested on IEEE 30 bus system and the performance of the algorithm is compared with other heuristics methods. Results show that (GHOSA) is more efficient than others for solution of single-objective optimal reactive power dispatch (ORPD) problem.

Abstract :

The guide Heart rate signals provide valuable information for assessing the state of autonomic nervous system that control functioning of heart. Heart rate variability analysis is an important non-invasive tool that has been widely used for assessing autonomic control of heart using linear and non-linear techniques since last three decades. Different methods used to detect these beats include ECG, blood pressure etc. but ECG has great importance because it gives a complete and clear waveform. Heart rate variability analysis is a tool that assesses the autonomic nervous system. It is based on the measurement of changing heart rate signals. In past two decades a large number of research efforts were made and a number of techniques were proposed for heart rate variability. In this study, the techniques used for HRV analysis includes linear (time and frequency domain) and non-linear techniques. We have used different classifiers and their methods to check heart rate variations in healthy cases and diseased cases. Methods showing highest accuracy include Naïve Bayes method of Bayes classifier; sequential minimal optimization (SMO) of functions classifier, lazy locally weighted learning (LWL) method, AdaBoost and logical model tree. Among all these methods LMT (logical model tree) is considered as best method with the accuracy level of 92.5%. In this study 10 folds cross-validation was used as test option. Cross-validation is a technique to assess the accuracy of results where the goal is predicted. In 10 folds cross-validation 10 times repetition occurs and the result is obtained by taking mean accuracy.

Abstract :

Leakage current is an important parameter to be considered in grid connected transformer-less photovoltaic (PV) inverter. This paper presents a comparative study of H5 topology of transformer-less inverter which employs galvanic isolation technique (dc-decoupling) and H-bridge zero voltage state rectifier (HBZVR) topology of transformer-less inverter which combines both galvanic isolation technique (ac decoupling) and common mode voltage clamping (CMV). The sine carrier pulse width modulation (SPWM) is applied. By using SPWM, the total harmonic distortion can be reduced and higher fundamental voltage is obtained with reduced filter size.Leakage current, CMV, output voltage and current of both topologiesare compared in this paper. It is found that the performance of HBZVR is superior to H5 topology.

Abstract :

Usually the design of pressure vessel is made with external required openings and attachments. The most commonly external attachment is the nozzles with their junctions. Under different loading conditions the stress concentration will occur at the junction area. In addition, due to discontinuity of the geometry and difficulties during welding and defect detected there, the junction region will become the weakest point and the failure source of the whole structure. In Reactor, stresses are produced at nozzle to shell and nozzle to head attachment. Evaluating the state of stress at the junction of a nozzle to a bottom head is most important. In this paper as per WRC 107 stresses at the eight points of nozzle to head junction is calculated and also PVCodeCalc is employed to calculate stresses of various components at attachment of reactor as per ASME. It contains curves for hollow and solid circular attachment; it determines local stresses at the eight points (Four upper and Four lower points) in the spherical and cylinder shell. This resultant data determines whether design is safe or not for given design parameters.

Abstract :

The current experimental study is to investigate the effect of process parameters (cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut) on performance characteristics (surface roughness, machining force and flank wear) in hard turning of AISI 4340 steel wit multilayer CVD (TiN/TiCN/Al2O3) coated carbide insert. Combined effects of cutting parameter (v, f, d) on performance outputs (Ra, Fm and VB) are explored employing the analysis of variance (ANOVA). An L9 Taguchi standard design of experiments procedure was used to develop the regression models for machining responses, within the range of parameters selected. Results show that, feed rate has statistical significance on surface roughness and the machining force is influenced principally by the feed rate and depth of cut whereas, cutting speed is the most significant factor for flank wear followed by cutting speed. The desirability function approach has been used for multi-response optimization. Based on the surface roughness, machining force and flank wear, optimized machining conditions were observed in the region 147 m/min cutting speed, 0.10 mm/rev feed rate and 0.6 mm depth of cut.

Abstract :

Today’s Power system becomes more complex and consequently it would lead to less security. To meet the demand and better security levels with existing transmission lines the Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) devices are the one of the alternates. In this paper a Newton Raphson (NR) algorithm was developed to find out the best operating point of Thyristor Controlled Series Compensator (TCSC) and Static Var Compensator (SVC) for the enhancement of system security. The proposed algorithm minimizes the security index iteratively. Security index indicates the overload level of the transmission lines. The proposed algorithm verified by standard IEEE 5 bus network. Line power flows and bus voltages and bus angles are obtained by the Newton Raphson algorithm and the security index is calculated for both the cases with and without FACTS. The results show that the power flow, voltage profile can be enhanced and the security margin increased by applying the proposed algorithm.

Abstract :

With the advent of high speed communication networks, the Internet acts as an efficient and cost effective information sharing channel that makes the globe at large feel like a small digital city. Due to its speed, simplicity and security, digital communication has become an integral part of everyone‘s life. Secure communication of secret data has become a major challenge This paper presents a technique for covert communication of secret data. The secret text data is embedded into the edges of a 24 bit colored image. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed technique produces a stego image of good visual quality and a reasonably good Peak signal to noise ratio. It was also seen that as the embedding capacity was increased the peak signal to noise ratio reduced. The technique was tested against attacks using a freeware steganalysis tool.

Abstract :

Renewable energy sources, which are expected to be a promising alternative energy source, can bring new challenges when connected to the power grid. Like conventional power plants, wind power plants must provide the power quality required to ensure the stability & reliability of the power system. While connecting wind turbine to grid it is important to understand source of disturbance that affect the power quality. In general voltage & frequency must be kept as stable as possible. This stability can be obtained by using FACTS devices. In this proposed scheme a FACTS device STATIC COMPENSATOR (STATCOM) is connected at a point of common coupling. The STATCOM will reduce the harmonics in the grid current by injecting superior reactive power in to the grid. However, in a wider sense Fuzzy Logic is almost synonymous with the theory of Fuzzy sets, a theory which relates to classes of objects with un sharp boundaries in which membership is a matter of degree. In this paper hybrid fuzzy logic controller is used which is the combination of PI and fuzzy controller for reducing the total harmonic distortion (THD) in source current of grid connected wind energy generation system.
